Harbour View score with SDF
published: Saturday | October 1, 2005

THE SPORTS Development Foundation (SDF) on Thursday gave a $500,000 boost to east Kingston Wray and Nephew National Premier League outfit Harbour View Football Club (HVFC).

In presenting the cheque to the club, SDF general manager Ludlow Watts commended them for being the first in the English-speaking Caribbean to own its own facility equipped with lights, good playing surface and seating for 6,000 spectators.

Watts, is also the treasurer of the Jamaica Armateur Athletics Association (JAAA), also highlighted the fact that this commitment was given some four years ago during the time when they erected lights at the stadium.

The club had incurred expenses of some J$6m over the past two years, arising from hurricane damage and mudslide from adjoining areas, it was stated in the SDF release.

Watts went on to praise the club for having a sound management structure in place, which he said will enable them to maintain and enhance the physical facilities and strong teams, both at junior and senior levels.

In thanking the SDF, Clyde Jureidini, general manager of the club, which currently heads the NPL standings, stated that they will do further upgrading work to the facility by paving certain areas and providing covering for sections of the spectator stands.
