TIVOLI GARDENS community leader Christopher Coke, otherwise called 'Dudus', who was detained yesterday morning in a major police/military operation, has been charged with possession of a ganja spliff.
He has been offered bail in the sum of $20,000 with a surety and is to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.
Justin O'Gilvie, the other businessman who was detained yesterday morning, was released from police custody. He has not been charged with any offence.
The men were taken into custody from their homes in upper St. Andrew.
After the men were detained, attorney-at-law Tom Tavares-Finson filed a writ of habeas corpus in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court seeking the immediate release of the men.
The application was set for hearing before Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle today. The writ was served on Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields for the police to tell the court why the men were detained.
Mr. Tavares-Finson said yesterday afternoon that since the men had been released he would go to court today and inform the judge of the men's release.
