Microdermoabrasion, big difference
published: Monday | October 10, 2005

The Oxy Megastation equipment from Italy is used in the microdermoabrasion treatment - PHOTOS BY IAN ALLEN/ STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER

THE MICRODERMOABRASION technique, similar to a micro-peel, for facial care has been used for years by aestheticians. This technique is employed to improve or resolve various aesthetic problems such as smoothing deep wrinkles, revitalising tissue affected by stretch marks, removal of tattoos, treatment of acne and the deep peeling of the facial surface.

A new machine, the Oxy Megastation, has been developed to improve the quality of the microdermoabrasion facial technique. The facial technique and equipment is new to Jamaica. However facial enthusiasts who want to ensure that they are getting an efficient and quality micro-peel can get the microdermoabrasion using the Oxy Megastation equipment out of Italy done at Jencare Skin Farm, Hope Road, St. Andrew.

Jennifer Samuda at Jencare notes that they have had the equipment for about a year and the response from customers after a micro-peel has been excellent.

"Microdermoabrasion is exceptional for discolouration, wrinkles and dehydration cells of the face. Its best to have one done once per month depending on the problem you are treating," says Mrs. Samuda.

The micro-peel technique using the equipment not only cleanses the face but also applies oxygen to renew cells during a facial.

The new Oxy Megastation equipment is able to produce oxygen from the ambient air by eliminating the nitrogen and concentrating the oxygen only. These will be transferred over the surfaces to be treated at the same time as the corundum powder.

"With a microdermoabrasion using the Oxy Megastation equipment there is a visible difference. The skin looks remarkable, feels smoother, cleaner, well toned of fine lines, wrinkles and the pores are tightened," says Mrs. Samuda.

At the Hope Road day spa, other skin treatments are applied to ensure maximum cleansing and revitalisation, during the microdermoabrasion process. Two of these treatments are:

Vitamin C-Plus: used to reduce signs of ageing. Rich in Vitamin C, A, E, and collagen that is a powerful anti-oxidant and essential aromatherapy properties to repair skin damaged by the sun and other environmental factors.

Jentox: a non-toxic anti-ageing collagen serum with essentials. Also a powerful wrinkle eraser which supports elasticity with instant results.

The cost to have a microdermoabrasion at Jencare is $4,000.
