Gunmen kill 10-y-o, relatives
published: Monday | October 10, 2005

THREE PERSONS including a 10-year-old boy were cut down by gunmen on Hanover Street in central Kingston yesterday.

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported yesterday that 42-year-old Rosemarie Little and her two sons, 18-year-old Oshane Walker and 10-year-old Rodane Powell, were killed by gunmen who invaded the tenement yard in which they lived at 5:00 a.m.

According to the CCN, the gunmen kicked in the door to Ms. Little's home and opened fire. Ms. Little and Oshane died instantly, while Rodane was pronounced dead at the Bustamante Children's Hospital.

One of the officers at the Kingston Central Police Station, which is investigating the incident, said that no link has been made to the murder of Franklin 'Chubby Dread' Allen on Friday. The Southside area leader 'Chubby Dread' was killed on Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston.

DISPUTES

Hanover Street is located in the 'Spoilers' region of central Kingston which has had disputes in the past with Southside.

The Hanover Street triple murder is the third incident involving women and children in two weeks. On September 27, Jashrene Reid and her three-month-old baby, Qwayne, were murdered at Hunter Avenue in the Mountain View Avenue area.

One man has been arrested and charged with their murders.

Last Wednesday, a family of four was killed when their home at Maxfield Avenue was firebombed by gunmen. Gerald Brown, 60, his 50-year-old wife, Dorcas, their 25-year-old daughter Janice and their 10-year-old granddaughter Sasha-Kaye perished in the fire.

The police say two persons have been questioned in connection with their deaths.
