THE EDITOR, Sir:
PLEASE ALLOW me the opportunity to publicly express my admiration for your columnist Ian Boyne. I am never disappointed to read Ian's articles.
Though at times I disagree with his direction and his tone, I admire his courage to address issues so many of us have either become too busy to face or too selfish to remember, yours truly included.
He constantly reminds me, however, of the responsibility I owe Jamaica and Jamaicans. I here respond personally because I truly believe change begins with the letter 'I'.
I thank Mr. Boyne for all he continues to say and do. His most recent article on 'Junior Gong' Marley was superb, prompting this response.
I admire what he does as well on 'Religious Hard Talk'. As a young Christian who has taken the time to pursue a professional goal, there are those in 'the Church' who would like me and others like me to believe that we are not a part of the family of God, either because we dare to think or stand for something other than the 'white bread gospel' we are given Sunday after Sunday.
Mr. Boyne's articles and programmes have inspired me to believe in myself as a thinker for whom God certainly has a place.
My prayer for Mr. Boyne is that he will continue his courageous work, challenging and inspiring us to think, question and respond. Mr. Boyne you are doing well.
I am, etc.,
