published: Thursday | October 13, 2005

Derrick A. Scott, Gleaner Writer

ATLANTA, Georgia:

OVER THE past 11 years the Atlanta Montego Bay Sister City Health Mission has contributed over US$250,000 (J15.8m) in medical supplies to needy residents of Montego Bay, St. James.

Chairman of Atlanta Montego Bay Sister City Committee, Vin Martin, said that over 30,000 residents of Montego Bay and adjacent parishes have received medical assistance during their 11 years of staging the annual health mission.

Mr. Martin pointed out that a team of 36 medical personnel from Atlanta will this week attend the annual health fair at St. John's Methodist Church Hall.

MEDICAL TEAM

The medical team consists of 16 medical doctors and 12 registered nurses.

He said the team will take medical supplies to Montego Bay valued at US$16,000 (J$1m) and will purchase an additional US$6,000 (J$380,000) in medical supplies in Jamaica.
