Good work, Rear Admiral
published: Saturday | October 15, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THIS IS in response to a letter from the Farquharson Institute of Public Affairs. Why is it that no one in Jamaica can come up with a viable solution to the crime and violence taking place islandwide?

I live abroad and everytime I read the news, it is always someone being killed. It makes me scared to come on vacation and when I do come, I am 'watching my back', so I do not really feel free to enjoy myself.

What Jamaica needs right now is military rule (as democracy does not seem to be working ... sorry) and I back Rear Admiral Lewin 100 per cent, as what is happening now is political and turf wars and the Government can no longer control the gunmen, and both parties have allegiance to their party thugs.
Rear Admiral Lewin, keep up the good work and I wish there were more like you in Jamaica.

I am, etc.,
