WEST INDIES fast bowler Jermaine Taylor has again been omitted from a national squad called up for training by the Jamaican cricket selectors, this time a 26-man squad summoned to prepare for the 2005-2006 regional four-day tournament.
Besides Taylor, who bowled impressively in last month's one-day practice matches, batsman Donovan Pagon who has played for the West Indies in the past year, and Lorenzo Ingram, were also omitted on medical grounds.
In a release from the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) yesterday, it was clearly stated that "the following players are currently on the injury list and will be added to the squad following medical reports as to their fitness to resume training".
REHABILITATIVE WORK
Taylor was recently left out of Jamaica's team for the Presidents Cup tournament, this on the recommendation of West Indies coach Bennett King, for the 5ft 9" pacer to be given more time to continue rehabilitative work on his bowling action, which damaged his back.
Pagon, who last played for Jamaica against the Leeward Islands in the Carib Beer Challenge Cup final last March, had recently done a knee surgery. Ingram's injury is unknown.
The 26-man squad is: Nicholas Austin, Carlton Baugh Jnr., Alton Beckford, Leon Bent, David Bernard Jnr., Gareth Breese, Bevon Brown, Odean Brown, Andre Dwyer, Shawn Findlay, Tyson Gordon, Keith Hibbert, Danza Hyatt, Maurice Kepple, Tamar Lambert, Xavier Marshall, Evon McInnis, Nikita Miller, Dean Morgan, Brenton Parchment, Andrew Richardson, Krishmar Santokie, Royan Smith, Dwight Stewart, Gavin Wallace and Dwight Washington.
