MEHRA

THE LONDON-BASED World Council for Corporate Governance (WCFCG) is to establish a Jamaica chapter with corporate governance expert Vindel Kerr as convenor. The mission of the WCFCG is "To become the leading provider of knowledge about best practices in corporate governance to company boards, policymakers, investors, fund managers, financial advisors, researchers, academics and other interested parties by creating active partnerships and foster cooperative relationships between organisations committed to improving the quality of corporate governance worldwide".

This Jamaica chapter will be officially launched by Dr. Madhav Mehra, president of WCFCG, during his visit to Jamaica on Monday, October 24, at the Knutsford Court Hotel. Dr. Mehra is chairman of the World Quality Council and president of the World Environment Foundation. The launch will feature a presentation from Dr. Mehra on the role of the WCFCG while Mr. Vindel Kerr will speak to the objectives and action plans of a Caribbean-based chapter.

Membership in the Jamaica chapter of the WCFCG is open to the public. It seeks to make a difference to the Jamaican and Caribbean economies by improving the quality of their corporate governance through training, research, dialogue, dissemination of information, active partnerships and cooperative relationships between organisations committed to improving the quality of corporate governance worldwide.

Interested persons may visit www.caribbean-governance.com for a membership package and application form. They may also register for the conference, "Taking Corporate Governance Beyond the Boardroom" on the same website or call Jamaica Employers'Federation at 926-6792 or 906-8370.
