That Tivoli invasion
published: Wednesday | October 19, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

DO YOU think the use of over 500 police and military was necessary to apprehend three men? Are you satisfied that at the end, there were four civilians shot and injured and absolutely nothing to show for the energy, money and time spent on that operation?

Does it bother you that these operations always take place on the eve of an election?

Does it raise any concerns that there was a third such operation in recent times even though the last one resulted in the death of 25 innocent civilians - no guns, no drugs, no bad men?

About the RearAdmiral, how many garrisons has he invaded? What has he found in Tivoli that he is sure not to find anywhere else? On what bases does he make the claim that it is the mother of all garrisons? And if it is the mother of all garrisons, is that a justification for the invasion?

If there are and there might very well be, three wanted men living in Tivoli, do they spend all their time in Tivoli and never leave? Dudus was not held in Tivoli so why could the intelligence not apprehend these men outside of Tivoli (since going into Tivoli is so costly in terms of lives and money)?

I think we are letting off the PJ administration too easy!

I am, etc.,

JOE BROWN
