Building with disasters in mind
JAMAICA HAS been spared a direct hit during this year's very active hurricane season. Yet, the damage to the country's infrastructure has been extensive on at least three occasions as major storm systems passed near the island.

Why did our roads perform so poorly?
THE ISLAND'S road network is showing catastrophic damage from the recent pounding by rains associated with Hurricane Wilma. And there are indications that the repair of Hurricane Ivan road damage of 2004 is not yet complete.- Dennie Quill
