THE TWO men implicated in the rape of 15-year-old Enid Gordon, who was subsequently murdered last week in a case still being investigated, had their bail revoked when they appeared in the Withorn Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The two suspects are to reappear in the Withorn RM Court on November 15 when their case will be mentioned.
Reports are that on October 20, 2004 the teenager who was a fourth form student at the Petersfield High School was raped by the men who resided in the teen's community of Content district in Westmoreland. The matter was reported to the Withorn police and the men were subsequently arrested and charged. Both men appeared in a series of hearings at the Withorn RM Court and were consequently released on bail. The case was set for hearing on October 18.
However, young Enid went missing last week Wednesday. She was last seen by her mother about 9:00 a.m that day, when she left home dressed in her school uniform to visit a relative who is a patient in the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital. She never showed up at the hospital and was never
present for school that day.
When she failed to return home, a missing persons report was made to the Withorn police, and a search was launched.
BODY FOUND BY FATHER
On Thursday October 13, at 5:30 a.m., the teen's body was found by her 66-year-old father Leebert Gordon in an old toilet pit some 12 chains from the
family's house.
The police theorised that her school tie was used to strangle her. The two men who were involved in the teen's rape last year voluntarily gave themselves up to the police for questioning after outraged citizens pointed fingers at them. They, along with a third man, were held for questioning under reasonable suspicion. The third suspect has since been released.
