LETTER OF THE DAY - Too much innocent blood has been shed
published: Friday | October 21, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WANT to congratulate Bruce Golding for stating unequivocally that a JLP government would find new ways to appeal to the Privy Council for a resumption of hanging in Jamaica. I wish we never had to wait that long, seeing that the society is under siege by cold-blooded, morbid creatures of the night. Nevertheless, it's better late than never.

Politicians, lawyers and judges must one day give an account for the way in which they manage the affairs of this country. Lawyers and judges are there to interpret the law passed by the legislative body, and often it seems that, for the most part, the law in reality is ambiguous, as these creatures of the law routinely dispute the edict in the courts and seldom do they ever agree. These legal subjects do not understand the moral law of God and nature, and most, if not all, possess a legal mind only, and cannot understand the things of God.

INNOCENT BLOOD

The word of God states clearly that shedding innocent blood curses the land, if the blood of innocent victims is not accounted for according to the laws of God and nature. Then, generation after generation will see an upsurge in crime and wickedness unimaginable to posterity. Too much innocent blood has been shed and the land is cursed. Whenever blood is shed innocently, the appropriate punishments must be meted out for the offence committed. I know that we are divided on the subject of hanging, but forgiveness has nothing to do with a man who commits murder. If he confesses his sin, Christ will forgive him, but he must suffer the consequence for violating the rights of another human being.

Now, take me on if you want to, but the truth will stand the test of time. Soon you'll see that without righteousness and moral conduct, we are doomed! Laws passed by the legislative body are limited to achieve real peace and stability in the society. Genuine peace begins when there is a change of heart. And only Jesus can fill that heart with the peace that man needs.

Mr. Herro Blair, stop siding with the Government by conducting your emergency approach to the mayhem in the society. You do not sit with warring factions to achieve peace. Too much innocent blood has been shed in this country. What has the PMI (Peace Management Initiative) achieved?

I am, etc.,
