AFTER THE camera crews and reporters had left King's House on Heroes Day, a few of those who had received National Honours and Awards were feted by friends and colleagues.

Among them was Nancy McLean, hotel manager of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. The rainy weather did not stop guests from coming out to support this phenomenal woman.

She was 'showered' with words and gifts of affection. The reception was held at the only logical place - the hotel she has helped make one of Jamaica's finest.

OVERWHELMED

'Ms. Mac' as she is called by Pegasus staff, was overwhelmed by the support, not just within the hotel but also hospitality and tourism industry and her family.

Her boss general manager Eldon Bremner called her a "true professional in her chosen career". Her brother Ronald, praised her for her abundance of love.

In her reply, McLean, possibly shedding a tear or two, pointed to the waiters and chefs standing in the background and said "Without all of you standing by my side, I wouldn't be standing here." She remembered her late father - the only close family member who didn't attend; at least, not physically.

MUSICAL TREATS

To make the musical treats as enjoyable as the fine company and atmosphere, Desi Jones and Friends made an already splendid afternoon even nicer; never mind the downpour outside.

Among the guests were Nancy's mom Joycelyn McLean; Camille Needham; Sandrea Falconer; Elena Girvan, another Pegasus stalwart; Prudence Simpson; Lois Lake-Sherwood; Robert Stephenson; Michelle Wilson-Reynolds; Iris Whittaker and fellow National Awardee
Ibo Cooper.
