It's time to be our brother's keepers
published: Sunday | October 23, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WAKE UP, JAMAICA! It's everybody's business what's happening in Jamaica. It's time to be our brother's keepers. Many of us are feeling hopeless and are even going into depression because of the state of the nation, but as long as God reigns, there is hope. We have to stand united and fight this scourge that is plaguing our beautiful country.

I am making a loud appeal to every Jamaican to watch out for one another, stop the political factions, the feuds. Why are we killing off ourselves so senselessly?

Use the same energy instead to stand up for the rights of the people. Remember that the politicians have their bread buttered, they have security, bodyguards, no rent to pay, no light bill, no water bill, we pay for all their bills while we are killing off ourselves. Does that make sense?

There should not even be a place called 'garrison'; this a country for 'Out Of Many One People', not a country of division separated by garrisons.

LET US FIGHT

If we have to fight, let us fight for the real reason, a good cause, let us fight for our beloved country. Let us fight for justice, let us fight against corruption that is depriving us of a good health system, better education for our children, better standard of living for our people, employment, etc. Let us fight for what is right. Look around you, see the squalor our brothers and sisters have to endure, let's fight against that.

For God's sake don't fight for politics, nor politicians, they are alright, we are not.

Don't be a 'diehard' supporter of any political party, be a supporter for performance.

Don't vote for a party because your mother, father or grandfather used to vote for that party. Vote because you know within yourself it's the right party to vote for, because you know that they have performed and have made your country a better place to be, a safe place to live in without fear of 'who will it be next'.

For God's sake my people, please wake up, pray and ask for God's guidance and DO IT!

I am, etc.,
