MORE AND MORE corporate offices are opening in-house gyms for the benefit of management and staff. The Gleaner joined the list on September 27, when it opened its doors to a new fitness centre and gym. Miss Jamaica World Terri-Karelle Griffith took a few iron-pumping pointers from Colin Bourne, the Gleaner's Administrative Manager/Company Secretry during the official opening.
Industrial Relations and Personnel Manager, Anthony O'Gilvie said the gym came on stream to enhance the current wellness programme that already exists at company.
The programme, which included aerobics three days each week, was held on the roof garden on the fifth floor of the newspaper's corporate headquarters. It has now expanded, offering more flexible hours both mornings and evenings for all members of staff. There is a trained fitness expert who leads all sessions.
The company aims to encourage healthy eating and dieting and Mr. O'Gilvie hopes the fitness centre will enhance the overall wellness of staff.
