THE EDITOR, Sir:
THE CARIBBEAN Institute of Mental Health and Substance Abuse (CARIMENSA) is an excellent initiative developed through the University of the West Indies Department of Community Health and Psychiatry Department, which shows that Jamaica continues to be a leader in the Caribbean and the globe in every sphere of life.
Wednesday's Gleaner Editors' forum on 'Rethinking Mental Health' shows that Jamaica is committed to long-term development.
Kudos to Wendel Abel, Frederick Hickling, and Maureen Morgan on the pioneering work they have done over the years through research, articles and papers written to ensure that Jamaica and its people can continue to have improved quality of life from all angles.
This, we hope, will help other initiatives, including crime and violence control and general investor confidence from both a social and economic development standpoint in our beloved Jamaica.
