PM could miss youth awards again
published: Friday | October 28, 2005

Damion Mitchell, News Coordinator

FOR THE third consecutive year, Prime Minister P.J. Patterson could be absent from the Prime Minister's Youth Awards function.

According to the director of the National Centre for Youth Development, Ohene Blake, the next Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting could coincide with the December 4 date set for the annual awards function.

He, however, said the Prime Minister was working "assiduously" to ensure that he was at this year's awards.

Mr. Blake added that on occasions when the Prime Minister was unable to attend the function, he hosted the recipients of the awards at his Vale Royal residence.

Mr. Blake was responding to questions during the launch of National Youth Month 2005 at the Courtleigh Hotel in New Kingston on Friday.

Youth Month 2005 will be observed under the theme 'Jamaican Youth ... Shaping the World'.
