New president for Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring
published: Friday | October 28, 2005

That's funny, is what Hermit McGann (second right), past Lt. Governor for Division 23 East, must be saying as he shares a joke with Chairperson Ellen Stennett (left), Gerthlyn Reid-Holman, present Lt. Governor for 23 East, and Bill Heaven (right) during the installation banquet for the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring on October 11, at the Terra Nova Hotel in St Andrew. - ANTHONY MINOTT/FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER

THE KIWANIS Club of Constant Spring installed its executive board for the 2005-2006 administrative year during a banquet held at the Terra Nova Hotel in St. Andrew on Tuesday, October 11.

Jeanette Hylton was installed as the sixth president of the club, taking over from Rosemarie Heaven.

The changing of the guard saw Mrs. Heaven, a woman of a jovial character, being replaced by Ms. Hylton, known to be a strict disciplinarian.

Gerthlyn Reid-Holman, Lieutenant Governor for Division 23 East, charged president Hylton to uphold and respect the position she now fills.

Hugh Douse, of the Nexus Performing Arts group, led the entertainment package, starting with Whitney Houston's One Moment in Time; he followed that selection with Unforgettable, made more popular by the late Nat King Cole, then later his daughter Natalie Cole.

The club in its sixth year of existence has done a number of fund-raising events for charity, such as an Evening of Elegance, where club members, family and friends come to a paid concert to be entertained by well known artistes, both in Jamaica and international.
