Beware racial bombing spree
published: Thursday | November 3, 2005

OPPOSITION LEADER Basdeo Panday closed the Divali Nagar festivities in Chaguanas on Monday night with a fiery speech about a story of good triumphing over evil.

Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday is again warning Indo-Trinidadians that they are being set up as targets for a bombing spree by people he described as racists in the society.

He previously spoke of the bombing spree after Jamaat-al-Muslimeen leader Yasin Abu Bakr said in an interview that the recent spate of bombings in Port-of-Spain occurred in a PNM stronghold where mainly people of African ethnicity lived.

Panday said that East Indians in the country were already the targets of kidnappings and added that more victimisation was about to affect the community.

RACISTS BOMBING SPREE

"You are now being set up for a bombing spree by racists and others who argue that since the recent bombings have been taking place in the north, that is evidence enough that the perpetrators are of Indian descent."

Panday added: "That act of incitement by itself would have been bad enough but when the Prime Minister by insinuation echoes that mischief, then you are in serious trouble."
