Strong leadership needed for our bleeding country
published: Friday | November 4, 2005

Chester Francis-Jackson, Contributor

Dr. Wykeham McNeill and his lady love, Sheila Benjamin-Fernandez. - WINSTON SILL/FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER.

AH, MY dears, something is definitely amiss in this state of Jamaica, but until this Prime Minister takes himself out of the way so someone with some testosterone can assume the mantle of leadership, the country will most definitely continue to bleed, literally and figuratively, as the fight for turf and the plunder continues, under his less than distinguished leadership.

The question is, how did we as a country sit down and allow things to come to this? We allowed this enfeebled leader and his suspect leadership skills and abilities to anoint himself The Most Honourable, in the process?

My dears, now I put it to y'all, because it certainly does not cut it from where we are viewing it!

Alas, we pray and press on, wondering when will it all end?

THE SONGBIRD IS BACK

Then me daahlings, songbird Myrna Hague is back and as fabulous as ever.

And speaking of fabulous women, the charming and rather affable Lorna Clarke is the new hotel manager at the ultra-fab Hedonism II, in fabulous Negril. Meanwhile, in Runaway Bay, St. Ann, at their sister property Hedonism III, the new manager there is the fabulous Donna Grant-Clarke.

And still speaking of fabulous women in the hospitality industry, Brenda Belding is in the Cayman Islands helping them to spruce up their product over their.

LOVELY GRANDCHILD

It's a granddaughter for Earl Levy and his fabulous wife Beverly Junor-Levy, as the stork made a delivery in mid-September of a bundle of joy to their only daughter, the charmingly lovely Susanne Levy-Louis, and husband Jean-Pierre Louis.

Mother and daughter are doing just fine, and granddad and grandma are over the moon.

And, the invitations are not yet out, but the word is, and it's definitely a Yuletide wedding for the ultra-fabulous style doyen and beauty, Sheila Benjamin-Fernandez, and tourism's Junior Minister, the affable Dr. Wykeham McNeill.

Pumpkins, this one promises to be nothing but a St. Andrew smasheroni, as come early December, the only event in town will be the nuptials of this beautiful couple; and with the ceremony and celebrations to be hosted at the fabulous home of the bride-to-be's brother, conglomateur Kenny Benjamin, children, y'all know we are talking a social and culinary treat here, and of the fabulous order.

Sweet-things, more anon as this one promises to be all that, and then some!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Then it was an intimate affair and nothing but for the birthday celebrations of premier socialite Jennifer Lim, my dears, as the week-long celebrations to mark her special day began with a fabulously intimate champagne reception and ended with an outing to Lime Cay, where the well-to-do and their coterie of friends frolicked on weekends.

Well me daahlings, it was like that - highbrow and nothing but!

And continuing to speak of birthdays, the fab Sonata Abrahams-Morin celebrated her birthday last Saturday with an intimate dinner with beau Oliver Magnus and a shortlist of family and friends, at the ever so buzzing Velisa's Restaurant in New Kingston, and pumpkins, it was so fab, people are still talking.

KINGSTON RESTAURANT WEEK

And speaking of fabulous restaurants, the charmingly love Stephanie Scott is promising one faultless shindig for the inaugural Kingston Restaurant Week, when everything kicks off next Saturday, launching a week that promises to have the nation's capital finest restaurants and eateries not only on display, but at their finest.

Oh, my word, sweet-things, just what this city needs in this time of murderously depressing news all around.

Pumpkins and with some eateries and restaurants offering up to 50 per cent off their regular fares, you are correct if y'all guessed that this here scribe will be first in line. And dears, to hell with the extra inches being anticipated from this week-long festival of fabulous dishes, and honeys, let no one but absolutely no one kid you, some of the finest restaurants in the entire culinary world are to be found right here in Kingston, and Jamaica.

So me daahlings, roll out all the finery and let's all go a dining.
