THE PRIVATE Sector Organisation of Jamaica, in collaboration with the major media houses, is currently planning to host a national phone-in programme on crime.

The event is to be aired on local television and radio stations on Wednesday, November 16, between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m and will take place at the new Courtleigh Auditorium (formerly the Island Life Cinema) on St. Lucia Avenue in New Kingston.

Moderators for the programme include Oliver F. Clarke, chairman and managing director of the Gleaner Company, and Cliff Hughes, head of Nationwide News Network.

PANELLISTS INCLUDE

* Dr. Peter Phillips, Minister of National Security

* Derrick Smith, Jamaica Labour Party Shadow Minister for Security

* Commissioner of Police, Lucius Thomas

* Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, Chief of Staff of the Jamaica Defence Force.

Representatives of various civic groups, service clubs, churches and other community groups will make up the audience and participate by posing questions to the panellists. Members of the public will also be invited to 'phone in' to express their views and concerns and to ask questions of the panellists.

Other key resource persons invited include August Town community leader Ken Wilson; Bishop Herro Blair, head of the Peace Management Initiative; Monsignor Richard Albert and criminologist Dr. Anthony Harriot.
