TWO GOALS in four minutes by Christopher Nicholas and Orane Simspon carried Tivoli Gardens to a 2-0 win over Boys' Town in their Wray and Nephew National Premier League encounter at the Spring Complex yesterday.

Nicholas gave Tivoli the lead against the run of play, converting a 45th minute penalty after being bundled over in the box by Ricardo White, to send his team in the half-time break with an undeserved lead.

Moments after the restart, Simpson latched onto a Craig Stewart cross to fire home from close range, doubling the lead in the 49th minute and effectively killing off the spirited effort of Boys' Town.

But had it not been for poor finishing by the Red Brigade, especially from Garfield Gillespie on two occasions, the result could have been much different.

MAXIMUM POINTS

Tivoli, 2-1 winners of their first round encounter, have now taken maximum six points from Boys' Town with their sixth win of the season to be on 19 points.

Boys' Town are left on 12 points after losing their fourth game of the season, two to Tivoli Gardens.

Andrew Price, technical director of Boys' Town, was once again left lamenting his team's lack of clinical finishing after outplaying their more fancied rivals and creating more clear cut chances.

"I don't think we played 100 per cent and because of that we came up short. But despite that, we got numerous amount of opportunities and that has been our age-old problem," said Price

"Despite not playing good today we got at least three to four chances in the six-yard box and we are wanting when it comes to our conversions. It's getting very appalling right now and something has to be done," he added.

Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey, coach of Tivoli Gardens, said he was prepared for an onslaught from the revenge-seeking Boys' Town aggregation.

"We know they would come at us. We had some players that were with us that are at Boys' Town now. But our preparation is not only for Boys' Town, it's for the second round," Bailey noted.

"We had a poor first round but generally we always start slowly. We talk about getting our act together. We knew where we were letting down each other and we have done some extensive work and it paid off today," Bailey pointed out.

In the Under-21 match that preceded the senior fixture, Boys' Town won 1-0.

GOALSHEET

Boys' Town - 0

Tivoli Gardens - 2

Christopher Nicholas - 45th (pen.), Orane Simpson - 49th.
