published: Tuesday | November 15, 2005

IN THE first of a series of photo-essays on Jamaica's farmers, staff photographer Ian Allen has chosen to highlight the activities of banana farmers. He was motivated while visiting a small banana farm in St. Mary.

He visited the Plunkett farm at Albion Mountain over a one-month period and over that time, the small farmer lost nearly a hundred bunches of bananas due to praedial larceny without the authorities doing anything, even though the farmer found the perpetrators with the bananas.
