Good move, Mr Seaga

THE EDITOR, Sir:
'THANKS KSAC, but no thanks!', the title of Edward Seaga's column in The Sunday Gleaner, dated November 13, 2005. I must say that I respect this move taken by Mr. Seaga as he decided not to accept a one-sided tribute to himself from the city of Kingston. For one who has not only done so much for the city, but for Jamaica on the whole, I must say that I am deeply disappointed with the PNP members of the KSAC. Playing politics, that's the only fitting description for the reason they gave for wanting 'to consult the stakeholders'.
In the said article, Mr. Seaga alluded to the fact that throughout our history, tributes of this nature have been made to several persons, some deservedly and so many others undeservedly. He also made reference to the fact that some of those most deserving of the ultimate tribute have had to settle for mediocrity.
Mr. Seaga has taken quite a principled stance, and I must say that you have managed to climb one rung further on my ladder of respect. Jamaicans, on the whole, should be proud. For this, Mr. Seaga, I must say thanks.
I am, etc.,
