Provoked into mayhem?
published: Friday | November 18, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THERE ARE some questions that need to be asked about the walk by mayors and councillors to try and deliver letters to the Prime Minister about the condition of the roads and their inability to do anything about it, because the money has not been provided to the parish councils.

Why was tear gas fired on the gathering all the way down at Devon House, and what would be wrong with walking from Devon House, two abreast on the sidewalk, up to Jamaica House? What I find most incredible is that this matter had to be treated this way because we must remember these people are linked to the 'Mother of All Garrisons' so we must be prepared for anything. What were the PNP youth arm saying when they made this comparison? The Youth Arm also says that the armed forces were provoked; provoked into causing mayhem on the busy Old Hope Road?

Please allow me to add that the top person in the army called Tivoli 'Mother of all Garrisons', while another person who was the head of the police force, Trevor MacMillan, said this should not have been said, and he also gave his reasons. Whom should we believe?

I am, etc.,

BINGROY C. ELLIOTT

Mandeville
