Agencies sign MoU to promote Jamaican goods, services
published: Friday | November 18, 2005

THE JAMAICA Business Development Centre (JBDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jamaica Promotions Agency (JAMPRO), as part of efforts to promote Jamaican products and services internationally.

The MoU was signed Wednesday at the annual conference of the JBDC at the Jamaica Conference Centre, downtown Kingston, over two days. Lisa Bell, of JAMPRO, said the MoU forms part of the partnership the two agencies have created to assist in the development of the business sector and communities.

"This will provide the platform on which we build new trade, investments and tourism outcomes," Ms. Bell explained. She said formal understanding would allow for the further implementation of programmes that would ensure that Jamaican businesses benefit from business ventures forged with international investors".

BRAND STRATEGY

The JAMPRO executive said the agency will be launching a brand strategy in early 2006 to ensure that Jamaican businesses receive maximum benefits from the staging of Cricket World Cup 2007.

"There is going to be a website that local businesses can log onto to find out exactly where they can provide a service or a good that is ultimately made to meet the requirements of CWC 2007," Ms. Bell said.

Harold Davis, executive director of the JBDC, also announced at the conference that it opened its sixth 'Things Jamaican' store online at www.authenticjamaican.com.
