TWO OF the more powerful women at Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) will be making their mark on a more international scale.
President Patricia Francis has been appointed executive director of the International Trade Centre (ITC); the joint technical cooperation of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) for business aspects of trade development. Her appointment becomes effective on June 1, 2006, initially for three years.
Joining her movement up the international ladder is Veniece Pottinger, former deputy president of JAMPRO, who has been appointed assistant secretary general, Head of the Department of Development Finance and Intra-ACP Programming with the African Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) Secretariat in Brussels, Belgium. She will take up her position next month.
Francis has been president of JAMPRO for just over 10 years and led the team which earned JAMPRO the World Trade Promotion Organisation (WTPO) award for the 'Best Trade Promotion Agency for a Small Country'. Pottinger has been at JAMPRO since its inception back in 1989, and has also served as export manager.
