Jamaican women on top
published: Monday | November 21, 2005

NEW YORK, USA, CMC

WITH THE conclusion of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-20 tournament last Thursday in Trinidad and Tobago, seven of the eight spots for the CONCACAF Women's Under-20 tournament next year have now been filled.

Jamaica topped the CFU group with a 100 per cent win record, and will be joined by Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago in the 2006 CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Final Round in January.

Led by tournament MVP Venecia Reid, the Jamaicans beat hosts Trinidad & Tobago 1-0, Suriname 2-0, and Haiti 1-0 to win the series.

T&T placed second and Suriname third.

These three CFU teams will join Panama, another Central American squad, Canada, Mexico and the USA, in an eight-team CONCACAF final-round qualification in January next year.

From the CONCACAF finals, three teams will advance to the 2006 FIFA Women's U-20 World Championship in Russia.
