HARBOUR VIEW FC extended their lead to 10 points atop the Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL) with a convincing 3-0 whipping of Constant Spring at the Spring Complex yesterday.

Marcelino Blackburn's goals in the 7th and 80th minutes, added to Oneil Smith's 16th minute conversion, propelled Harbour View to their 11th win of the season from 13 games.

The runaway leaders now have 33 points while rattling in a league best 24 goals and conceding seven.

Harbour View now have a Chelsea-like vice-grip on the premier league after nearest challengers Portmore United and Village dropped two points in their 0-0 draw.

Donovan Hayles, coach of Harbour View, was happy for the three points but thought his team gave the opponents too many chances to get back into the game. "We allowed Constant Spring a lot of chances and had they converted one of those chances, it could have been a different game, so that was not really pleasing. We have to be a little bit tighter at the back," said Hayles.

Constant Spring's woes continued after slumping to their eighth defeat of the season in a tepid display and remain winless after 13 matches.

Despite creating a couple of chances, Constant Spring failed to score and are relegation favourites, rooted to the bottom of the table on five points, five behind Seba on 10.

Danny Lyn, technical director of Constant Spring, was bemused and struggled to find words to explain his team's poor showing once again.

"The team lacked the confidence and the will to go forward. There is a lot of work to be done. It's a mental situation right now and we have to get back inside their heads right now," he noted.

Meanwhile, in the Under 21 competition, Anthony Christie, who played on Excelsior High School's winning Manning Cup team of 2004, scored to hand Harbour View a 1-0 win over Constant Spring.

GOALSHEET
