Miracle Man leaves today
published: Tuesday | November 22, 2005

MIRACLE MAN

THE WAY is apparently now clear for Derby and Superstakes winner MIRACLE MAN to represent Jamaica in the US$300,000 Caribbean Classic at the El Commandante racetrack in Puerto Rico on Sunday, December 4.

When contacted yesterday, Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) chairman Rudolph Muir, who is spearheading the drive, said:

"Miracle Man will be leaving the island tomorrow (today) for Miami where he will be kept in quarantine before leaving for Puerto Rico on November 28, ahead of nominations for the race a day later."

The classy three-year-old colt will be accom-panied by his trainer Allan 'Billy' Williams and groom Anthony McLeod.

PUERTO RICO EFFORTS

Efforts to take MIRACLE MAN directly to Puerto Rico last week Monday had to be shelved as he would have arrived in that country a trifle late for the quarantine deadline on November 14.

The other option was to reroute to Miami for quarantine, but this move was delayed when blood samples for MIRACLE MAN were requested by the authorities in Miami.

Under the conditions of weight allotment which would see MIRACLE MAN carrying only 49.0kg, an allowance given to those countries which have never won the race - owner Joseph Duany is in the process of securing the services of a lightweight jockey to ride the powerfully built Law of the Sea - Hya offspring.

His preference is for Wesley Henry, but 'Callaloo' left the island for Atlanta eight days ago and won't be back until after the Thanksgiving holiday.
