THE EDITOR, Sir:
WHILE THE Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA), is to be congratulated on their very well-planned doggie fashion show on November 12, it should be pointed out that this was not the first canine fashion show to be held in Jamaica.
The first was staged at the Sheraton Kingston Hotel over 35 years ago. JSPCA president was then Colonel Mascoll and I was chairperson for the JSPCA's education committee. Co-ordinating outfits for dogs and models were specially designed for the show by fashion legends Mae Fuertado and her daughter, Helen, and the emcee was JBC-TV's 'Mirror' host, Cynthia Wilmot.
WIDE MEDIA COVERAGE
The event had wide media coverage and a photo even found its way to the pages of the American HumaneSociety's magazine in the U.S.
I hope the JSPCA will keep this as an annual family fund-raising event and that everyone will continue to support this very worthy organisation that has offered so many years of service to people and their pets.
