CRICKET: WORLD CUP 2007 - Tickets on sale May 1
published: Thursday | November 24, 2005

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

CRICKET WORLD Cup 2007 tickets will become available to the public on May 1, 2006, organisers announced yesterday at a press conference held at the Island Life Auditorium, New Kingston, Jamaica

More than 800,000 tickets ranging from US$10 (J$650) for a single ticket to US$300 (J$19,500) for the most expensive seats at the final, will be distributed in various packages for the 51 matches at 47 venues which begin in March 2007.

The Commercial Manager of ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc., Steven Price, assured cricket fans of fair and equal distribution when it comes to the availability of tickets.

"Everyone has an equal chance to secure tickets and there will be prices to suit everyone's pocket from US$10 to US$300," Price said.

Fans will be able to apply for single match tickets, venue combinations or a 'Follow a Path' combination.

PRICE CATEGORIES

There will be three price categories depending on the quality of the seats and also a separate price for Party Stands.

After the first phase of the operation, which will close on November 30, tickets will be available via official ticketing web sites and centres at all host venues.

The venue combination package will be split into two parts. Part A will include tickets for all matches played at that venue in the first round or Super Eight stage, while B will include tickets for all matches at that venue including the semi-finals or final.

The same will apply for the 'Follow a Path' combination, which allows an individual to follow specified match destinations in relation to any one of the 16 teams in the tournament. The tickets will be valid whether or not the team selected is still in the tournament.

LIMITATIONS

But, there will be certain limitations on the number of tickets available per application. An application limit of one per person and two applications per residential household will be enforced.

In addition to this, people who wish to view the semi-finals must also apply for a minimum of two group stage tickets, two Super Eight tickets or one venue combination.

For the final, an application also needs to include a minimum of three group stage tickets, three Super Eight tickets or one venue combination.

Price also stressed that there will be 'no free tickets'.
