published: Friday | November 25, 2005

WELL-KNOWN INSPECTOR of Police, Donovan O'Connor, also called 'Hux', is fighting a legal battle in the Supreme Court to bar the authorities from retiring him from the force in the public's interest.

The Police Service Commission and the Commissioner of Police have taken the decision that he is to be retired effective December 1.

Yesterday, O'Connor got an order from the Supreme Court staying the decision of the respondents to retire him providing that he files his application within the next 14 days to take the matter to Judicial Review Court.

The 46-year-old Inspector, who joined the force in 1980, was informed this year of his retirement.
