We've lost our spiritual fabric

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AGREE with everything Ian Boyne said in the article 'Closing Jamaica's Crime Factories'. We have lost our spiritual fabric in Jamaica. The 'values' that we used to speak of a few decades ago, have been replaced by materialism and greed, because, as the article explained, these are the things that are now respected in our society. I pray for Ian that he will continue to live and write with 'integrity'. He is an oasis within the barrenness that emanates from the media.
Peter Espeut wrote an article a few years ago, speaking to the fact that we already have the necessary tools via media marketing to influence human behaviour. I strongly believe that a collaborative long-term media educational campaign promoting the values and attitudes of which we preach can influence our island for the better.
As I write this note, I am praying for Ian and Jamaica, and for all those who remain committed to 'right living' in our country.
I am, etc.,
