Two cops shot, injured
published: Monday | November 28, 2005

TWO POLICEMEN were shot and injured in separate incidents on the weekend, according to the the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN).

On Saturday night, a policeman from Mountain View Police Station, moonlighting as a taxi driver, was shot by one of three men after they boarded his taxi. When the vehicle stopped at a service station at the intersection of Waltham and Hagley Park roads, one of the men produced a gun, demanded money and a struggle ensued during which the policeman was shot.

He was admitted to hospital in stable condition.

In the second incident, a constable from Kingston Central Police Station was shot by gunmen on Friday night at Carlisle Avenue, Gregory Park, St. Catherine.

He and two colleagues were reportedly in the area when they heard cries for help, upon which they went to investigate, but were shot at by three armed men. The constable was hit and the fire returned but the men escaped. He was treated and then released from Spanish Town Hospital.

Meanwhile, deejay Christopher 'Escobar' Barnes, 27, of Umpire Path Way, Arnett Gardens, Kingston 12, was chased and shot dead by a group of gunmen on Saturday morning.
