SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:
A 25-YEAR-OLD man, who the St. Catherine North police claim is wanted for several crimes committed in the Thompson Pen and Jobs Lane area, was shot and killed during a shoot-out on Saturday night.
He is Damion Edwards, otherwise called 'Dolphin', of Trial Heights, St. Catherine.
Reports are that about 9:45 p.m., a police party, acting on information, went to Thompson Pen main road where they spotted Edwards driving a Toyota Corolla motor car. When they accosted him he jumped from the vehicle and started firing at the lawmen.
It is reported that the police took cover and fired several shots, hitting Edwards. He died on the spot.
A .38 revolver along with three live rounds and two spent shells was taken from his body. According to Detective Sergeant Paul Thomas, sub-officer in charge of crime for Spanish Town, Edwards was wanted on warrants for at least eight counts of murder and shooting in the St. Catherine North police area. The recovery of this gun brings to 76, the number seized by the police in St. Catherine North since the start of the year.
