Responsible drinking tips
published: Thursday | December 1, 2005

Beer-drinking contests such as this one held at Margaritaville, Island Village Plaza in Ocho Rios last year, are a popular activity at holiday festivities. Have fun but don't drink and drive.

THE 'WESTRN' METHOD

We are once again in the season for eating drinking and being merry. But unfortunately, some people will overdo things and the consequences are very often fatal. Here are some tips courtesy of RED STRIPE, the world's coolest beer company, to help you consume alcoholic beverages sensibly.

W- ater: Alternate your drinks with water to stay refreshed.

E- at: A bite to eat before or while drinking slows alcohol absorption.

S-pacer: Soft drink 'spacers' between, can help pace an evening.

T- op ups: Avoid top ups so you can keep track of your unit intake.

R- esponsible host: Be one - provide food, non-alcoholic drinks or serve pre-made cocktails using standard drink measures.

N-o to drink and drive: Think about how you're going to get home before you leave home. Grab a cab or designate a driver.
