THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
Hunter Tylo (Taylor, The Bold and the Beautiful) and her husband, Michael Tylo (Guiding Light, The Young and the Restless), have split after 18 years of marriage. The couple had broken up several years before, but reconciled. This time, Hunter says they are over for good, and that Michael has packed his things and moved out.
GUIDING LIGHT
Emmy-winner Crystal Chappell who shook us all up just a few days before Thanksgiving when she said she had asked GL to let her out of her contract once told me that the role of Olivia was one of the best of her career. She especially liked that Olivia could be "so devious one day and so, well, nice the next day". And there were no spontaneous, quirky mood shifts. "She reacted to things that happened to her or around her," Chappell said. "Just the way any of us might."
One of the reactions to Chappell's announcement came from a source who had been speculating that the venerable soap would be losing actors ever since they began changing the status of some major players from contract to non-contract. This source predicted that actors would be looking to jump to other soaps if a good role opened up. Recently, Jerry ver Dorn left his longtime role as Ross Marler on GL and took the subway to the One Life to Live studios, where he answered the casting call for Clint Buchanan, originally played by Clint Ritchie.
ONE LIFE TO LIVE
As I write this, OLTL's Nora Hanen played since 1992 by the lovely Hillary B. Smith has been in a coma for weeks. When she awakens, will it be Smith we're looking at, or Chappell? Then again, OLTL has a habit of shipping off their ailing and infirm to places where they warehouse characters until needed again.
GENERAL HOSPITAL
General Hospital's Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassadine) is said to be upset about a soap publication hinting that he and soon-to-be-former castmate Alicia Leigh Willis (Courtney Matthews) are closer than close. Not true, says Christopher, who married one former soap star, The Young and the Restless' Eva Longoria, who is now on Desperate Housewives, and was engaged to a GH castmate, Vanessa Marcil (Brenda). And most recently, he and Natalia Livingston (Emily Quartermaine) have been
having a life-imitates-art relationship. That appears to be over both on screen and off.
