Jamaicans want Portia, says Douglas
published: Sunday | December 4, 2005

Douglas

CHAIRMAN OF the Portia Simpson Miller presidential campaign, Easton Douglas, said that no matter who the supporters of Mrs. Simpson Miller are, the sheer number of them shows that Jamaicans want her to be their next leader.

"As far as we are concerned, the support for her is coming from the Jamaican population. If there is support from any group, whether it be the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), religious groups, inner-city communities or wherever, it is just an indication that the people believe in her, and want her to be the next president of the PNP and later, the Prime Minister of Jamaica," he said.

Mr. Douglas said the campaign team was not in a position to determine exactly where the support for Mrs. Simpson Miller was coming from, but emphasised that the polls show that she is well in the lead.
