DIGICEL GROUP, the mobile telecommunications giant, last week launched its operations in Anguilla, Bermuda and St. Kitts, Nevis.
This is part of the company's thrust to continue its rapid expansion in the region, covering 15 countries by the end of this year. At the end of 2005, Digicel expects to cover a total population of 14 million people, as part of its mission to create a seamless pan-Caribbean network.
At this time of its significant regional growth, this dynamic company has also introduced a bold, new tagline, 'Expect More, Get More.' The new tagline reflects the company's customer centric operating principles, says Harry Smith, Digicel's commercial director.
In November 2005 Digicel recorded a milestone of 1.37 million subscribers in Jamaica, after just four years of operation while at the same time it continues to expand and strengthen its footprint in the Caribbean through recent acquisitions and new licences. Digicel enjoys an average 62 per cent market share across its operations and employs up to 1,500 people in the region.
The company was the first to offer a number of new products and services in Jamaica and the company's extensive roaming network includes 220 roaming partners in over 100 countries.
With investments in Jamaica and the region approaching US$1 billion, Digicel has built the infrastructure to provide nearly 100 per cent network coverage throughout its countries of operation bringing telecommunication services to local and rural residents that never before had a viable wireless option with the respective incumbent providers.
