IDON'T know how many Jamaicans have been to New Orleans, but guests who showed up at Devon House on Tuesday got a fair idea.
Wray and Nephew's media party, christened 'Yardi Gras' by the hosts, offered barrels of fun. Like its Mardi Gras counterpart in the Big Easy, this was a colourful affair. The floors were littered with sparkling confetti and everybody was wearing beads, masks or feathers. Just for the fun of it, some were wearing all three and almost everybody was holding a drink. Speaking of drinks, you had your choice of Wray's Tavern or the Rum Street Blues station
to guzzle your favourite mixtures.
HYPE ENTERTAINERS
An event of this hype needs hype entertainers, and Ity and Fancy Cat are as hyperactive as they come. They kept the crowd entertained with their antics,
giving away more prizes than you can count. Lots of trivia questions, Tuck In Yu Belly contest, and shaking your booty all got you bottles of the fine spirits and a various other prizes.
The New Orleans feel was complete with palm reader and body painting being offered. The beads, on the other hand, weren't just for decoration. The person who collected the most beads of the same colour would carry away (if they could manage) $25,000 worth of liquor. Don't drink it all in one place though!
