A HUNGRY Ardenne will head to Excelsior today with the bold ambition of coming away with their second win of the 2005 KFC sponsored ISSA High School basketball season in a crucial Southern Conference encounter at 3:30 p.m.

Coming off a tough home loss to Jamaica College, the team from Ardenne Road will be looking to hand an Excelsior team which has already lost one home, game to St. Jago a similar fate.

"We need that game. It is a game away from home but we certainly need to win it if we are going to seriously stay in contention for a spot in the second round," Ardenne's coach, Basil Barrett, said. But leaving Excelsior, who have a 2-1 record so far this season, with a full share of the points will not be an easy feat.

ROAD VICTORY

Among their wins is an impressive road victory over Jamaica College, a team which 1-1 Ardenne had found difficult to match up with.

However Excelsior coach Rohan Robinson is careful not to use that as any indication in terms of expecting an easy win.

"I always tell my players that the ball is round and on any given day anything can happen. So I tell them not to pay any attention to that sort of thing because when we play them it might be quite different," Robinson said. He did however admit that his players might have an advantage playing at home.

"We should be quite comfortable at home today, but we still have to go out there and perform. I know the guys are looking forward to the challenge," he said.

Southern Conference: Excelsior vs Ardenne.

Western Conference: Maldon vs William Knibb, Herbert Morrison vs Anchovy.

Northern Conference: Ocho Rios vs McGrath.

Central Conference: Glemuir vs Christiana, Manchester vs Lennon High, Knox vs Vere Technical, Central vs Kemps Hill.

Eastern Conference: Seaforth vs Port Antonio.
