published: Monday | December 12, 2005

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA (AP):

An American consultant working for the United States Government's overseas relief agency was found dead in his hotel room in Guyana, and police said yesterday they believe he was slain.

Hotel staff found the body of Daniel Thompson, 55, on a mattress in his room late Saturday at the Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel in Georgetown, the capital, Police Chief Winston Felix said. Thompson's head had a large wound apparently caused by a blunt object.
