WHILE WATERHOUSE Football Club have been doing well in this season's edition of the Wray and Nephew National Premier League, all is not rosy at home.
Ahead of their game last night the club's management announced that they had mutually agreed with head coach Calvert Fitzgerald to sever ties because of differences relating to the direction of the club.
A press release issued by the Waterhouse management stated that:
"Both the coach and the club have recognised that these differences (mentioned above) could manifest themselves in the future to the detriment of the club, and hence the mutual decision to part company at this time."
In the interim, assistant coach Wayne Fairclough has taken up duties as the head coach, with former national player Hugh 'Bingy' Blair being promoted to the post of assistant coach.
The press release went on to offer thanks to Fitzgerald for his contribution to the club.
Fitzgerald himself has remained tight lipped about what caused the rift.
"When contacted by The Gleaner yester-day, he said: "I wish not to disclose anything right now, I really don't want to say anything now and I hope the public understands."
The story was the same in the Waterhouse camp as no one wanted to say what caused the break-up.
"There were some irreconcilable differences and we decided it was best we part company," Water-house manager Peter Hibbert stated.
"We just see things differently ... the club has some standards and over the past couple of years we've been trying to maintain them."
