Crash kills seven
published: Tuesday | December 13, 2005

PORT-OF-SPAIN (CMC):

AT LEAST seven people were killed in motor vehicle accidents and two others murdered as Trinidad and Tobago recorded yet another bloody weekend this year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Nazimool Hosein said many of the accidents were being caused by "drunkenness and revelry during Christmas into the February 2006 carnival season".

He added: "We have to put Christ back into Christmas. If Jesus were alive today he would not be happy to see how we celebrate it with drunkenness and revelry."

Hosein said the police have launched a road safety campaign that would be sustained until Carnival 2006.
