THE POSTAL Corporation of Jamaica is implementing plans to increase its efficiency and to ensure the quick delivery of all packages this Christmas.
Gordon Brown, public relations manager at the Postal Corporation of Jamaica, told The Gleaner that the corporation would be taking a 'proactive' approach this Christmas. A joint initiative consisting of the postal administration, several airlines, the security forces and the Airports Authority of Jamaica is being employed. The programme is being organised through the Caribbean Postal Union on whose board the Postmaster General sits.
Mr. Brown noted that, throughout the year, between four and five million packages were received each month. He said inbound mail was expected to top six million easily as the flow of inbound packages had jumped significantly since early December.
Although no new personnel will be employed, existing staff have been strategically arranged to deal with the expected influx of items through the postal services this Christmas.
