published: Thursday | December 15, 2005

Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter

IN THE second overseas trip for Jamaican swimmers this month, four Marlins and 14 Y-Speedos Swim Club members will take part in the XIV Torneo International Delfin De Oro swim meet to be held from today until December 19 in Panama City, Panama.

Joshua Black, Alford Green, Clive Green, Daniel Harris, Matthew Hilton, Robert Marshall, Leanne McMaster, Lorrain McMaster, Dwayne Powell, Phillip Simon, Annalise Thompson, Donovan Todd, Karl Todd and Dane Todd are the Y-Speedos representatives.

The Marlins will have Benton Blair, Nicholas Jones, Kristen Jones and Sidrel Williams in their line-up.

Lurline Todd is the team manager, while Y-Speedos and national assistant coach Lynval Lowe will travel with the team as head coach.

JOINT DELEGATION

The joint delegation will be trying to top a good performance on the weekend by a combination of Tornadoes swim club members and national swimmers who participated in the Plantation Club's Winter Championships in Florida.

At that meet the Jamaicans, led by Brad Hamilton and Stefan Brown, took home seven medals.

Brown was the pick of the crop as he had the best performance of the weekend, copping the only silver in the boys' 11-12 50-yard butterfly in a time of 27.63 seconds behind Andy Vasquez, who hit the wall in 27.46.

TWO BRONZE MEDALS

Brown also picked up two individual bronze medals in the 11-12 50-yard freestyle and the 50-yard backstroke events.

In the relays, Brown was a part of the bronze medal winning 11-12 400-yard medley relay team that included Matthew Chen, Steven Moodie and Dominic Walter.

Dual bronze medallist Hamilton stepped on to the medal podium in the 15-16 Boys' 50 and 200-yard freestyle.

Dominic Lee claimed Ja-maica's other medal, hitting the wall for third place in the 200-yard breaststroke event.
