NCB's big bash
published: Sunday | December 18, 2005

Shelly-Ann Thompson, Freelance Writer

Chairman Michael Lee Chin gives a listening ear to his mother, Gloria Chen. Paul Hoo of Supreme Ventures shares the moment.

UNDER THE stars on the lawns of the Terra Nova Hotel, Waterloo Road, St. Andrew, persons turned out to mingle as the National Commercial Bank (NCB) played hosts to clients and friends on Tuesday evening.

Chairman, Michael Lee Chin, and Group Managing Director, Patrick Hylton, were both present to welcome the guests who turned out for the festivities.

The gathering was large as from a mile away it was evident that a big event was on at Terra Nova. Cars lined the streets leading into the hotel. Then, closer to the venue, the projected NCB logo on screens that were placed across the lawn made outsiders aware of the festivities.

Long, white tents draped in the bank's signature blue fabric housed food stations with tasty treats such as marlin, salmon, lamb, fish, chicken, rolls, potato salad and a large variety of vegetable salads.

MUSICAL ATMOSPHERE

Many stood and ate, while mingling and filling the air with chatter. However, if anyone became drunk from the free-flowing red or white wines and other liquor, there were sofas at the centre of the lawn on which to take a rest.

Saxophonist, Dean Fraser, with Desi Jones on drums provided musical entertainment. When the featured acts took a break, recorded calypso, reggae and dancehall music kept the entertainment going.

There were gifts for the NCB guests a Buccaneer Rum Fruit Cake and Tia Maria Liqueur package; a key ring; and a parcelled-slice of Christmas cake.

Those present included: Wayne Chen and wife, Diana; Hillary Philips; Kibwe; Patrick Hylton; Norris Taylor; Stefanie McIntyre; Silvera Castro; Chris Tufton and wife, Neadene; Bruce James, Ann-Marie Stewart; Sherene Welsh; Pat Ramsay; Canadian High Commissioner, Claudio Valle; Peter Bovell and wife, Donnia; Michael McMorris; Dennis Morrison; and Pat Francis.
