DPP office clarifies Danhai Williams bail arrangement
published: Monday | December 19, 2005

A RELEASE from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has sought to clarify several reports carried in the media concerning the offer of bail made in the sum of $200,000 with surety to Danhai Williams in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, December 14.

The release said the impression has been erroneously conveyed that that sum relates to the case against Mr. Williams, where he is charged with others in the NHDC fraud matter. In fact, the offer of bail in the sum of $200,000 relates specifically to the separate case against Mr. Williams for breach of his bail condition imposed when he was granted bail in the sum of $10 million in the fraud matter.

There are, therefore, now two matters against Mr. Williams in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court.

1. The initial fraud matter where he remains on $10 million bail and;

2. The new case for breach of those bail conditions in the fraud matter, on which he received the $200,000 bail offer.
